Day4
Week22
1Samuel 14
“Saul said, “Let us go down after the Philistines by night and plunder them until the morning light. And let us not leave a man of them.” And they said, “Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said, “Let us draw near here to God.” Saul asked of God, “Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will You deliver them into the hand of Israel?” But He did not answer him that day. Saul said, “Come here, all you leaders of the people, and observe and see how this sin has come about this day. For, as the Lord lives, who saves Israel, even if it is in Jonathan my son, he will surely die.” But there was not one who answered him from among all the people.”

Haste Makes Waste
Are you in a hurry to get things done?
Have you ever made a decision based on your excitement?
Saul is very impulsive. Once again we are witnessing him make a hasty decision to go forward into battle without consulting God.
Is it any wonder that God is not quick to answer Saul’s question?
Where is the humility?
Where is the apology for forgetting about God?
Saul immediately assumed that the sin was with someone else. He never even considered that he might be the problem.
Are you quick to blame others when trouble comes?
Do you make excuses for yourself often?
Action Step
Although Saul followed the priest’s advice to consult God, he didn’t repent for his hasty decisions.
Invest some time today with your Heavenly Father and allow Him to show you if you need to repent. If that is the case, then repent quickly and thank God for His faithfulness.
Remember to acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will make your path straight.
