Harvest

Day2

Week32

2 Samuel

“So the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, Armoni and Mephibosheth, whom she had born to Saul, and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she had born to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite. He delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the mountain before the Lord; the seven of them fell together. They were put to death in the first days of harvest, in the beginning of the barley harvest.”

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭21‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Harvest

October is harvest time in America. I live amidst rolling meadows of farmland and it is a beautiful, busy time in the fields.

A famine in the land would definitely ruin the harvest celebrations and after three years, would threaten the lives of the entire kingdom.

Is there a famine in any area of your life right now? Maybe your health is failing or your finances? Possibly your family relationships or children may not be great?

The root of famine is always spiritual. Either it is an attack from the enemy or an indication that changes need to be made in our lives, usually repentance.

The best thing is always to seek God for wisdom as David did. I noticed in the text that it was the beginning of the harvest season. They were in a three year famine, so that would mean that the harvest had been destroyed at least twice before.

It seems that sometimes or a lot of times it takes more than once for God to get our attention, right?

Wherever you are in your life season, stop and listen. God wants us to have a bumper crop harvest in every area of our lives.

Is there anything that you need to repent about?

Action Step

Therefore, take no thought about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take thought about the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is the trouble thereof.

MATTHEW 6:34 MEV

What is troubling you right now?

As you bring your requests to God, ask Him to show you the reason behind your worry.

Give Him permission to speak truth into your life.

Sometimes a famine of God’s Word can be the culprit.

This Weeks Memory Seed From Psalms:

“The Lord’s words are true and pure, like silver purified by fire, like silver melted seven times to make it perfectly pure.”
