Day3
Week29
1Samuel 17
“Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spoke to the men. And Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, “Why have you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the evil of your heart. For you have come down that you might see the battle.” David said, “What have I done now? Was it not only a word?””
1 Samuel 17:28-29 MEV

Genesis 37:4; 37:8
Good Question!
Are you asking the right questions?
How can I pay this debt?
Where will the money come from?
Will I ever feel good again?
Why am I always in pain?
Why are my kids always making bad choices?
What am I supposed to do?
Do any of these questions sound familiar?
Eliab, David’s brother was asking questions. His questions weren’t to get answers, but to rebuke his brother and take away his own guilt because he couldn’t answer David’s legitimate questions.
Can you feel David’s excitement here? He actually expected to find brave men who believed in their God. He was looking for fellow soldiers who knew God like he did.
David did not go there expecting to fight.
When he heard Goliath taunting his people and his God, he thought his fellow citizens would trust God and shut the giants mouth.
He found a group of men who were trusting in what they saw in front of them and what they lacked in their hands instead of trusting in what they knew about their God.
Does that sound familiar?
Action Step
David had a fresh perspective. He had not been listening to or looking at the enemy for 40 days.
He had been tending sheep, possibly fighting off lions and bears and most importantly; he had been talking with God, singing to Him and hearing God in his heart.
Have you been listening to and looking at your situation and magnifying it in your mind?
Flip your perspective and sing a song of praise about what Your God has previously done for you or someone you know.
Magnification doesn’t actually make something bigger.
Your focus does.
