God's Revenge

Day5

Week17

2 Samuel

“So David gathered all of the people and they went to Rabbah, fought against it, and took it. David took the crown of their king from his head, and its weight was a talent of gold and precious stone. It was placed upon the head of David. He brought out large quantities of plunder from the city. He brought out the people who were in it, and he put them to work with saws, and iron picks, and iron axes, and sent them to work in the brick kiln. Thus he did to all of the cities of the Ammonites. Then David and all of the people returned to Jerusalem.”

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭12‬:‭29‬-‭31‬ ‭MEV‬‬

God’s Revenge

Do you remember King Hanun, the new Ammonite king who disgraced David’s men by shaving off half their beard and beating them, when David had sent them on a hospitality mission of peace?

God’s revenge is always better than anything we can come up with. Rabbah is the capital city of Ammon. After this victory, the Ammonite people are under King David’s rule.

We do not have to take matters into our own hands.

Even though David sinned against God, He remembered the covenant that He made with David.

Because of Jesus, we have a better covenant based on better promises!

Hebrews 8:6-13.
