Day5
1Samuel 28
Week 45
“Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you roused me to bring me up?” And Saul answered, “I am greatly distressed, for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me any longer by prophets or by dreams. Therefore I have called you that you might make known to me what I should do.” Then said Samuel, “Why then do you ask me, since the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy? The Lord has done for Himself as He spoke by me. The Lord has torn the kingdom from your hand and has given it to your neighbor, David. As you did not obey the voice of the Lord and did not carry out His fierce wrath against Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day. And moreover, the Lord will deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.””

God’s Enemy
We all start out as God’s enemy. We are born imprisoned by our sin nature. Sin is God’s enemy.
God takes what the enemy meant for evil and turns it for good. God’s plan of salvation is amazing.
He laid it out all through the scriptures. One of my favorite examples is Abraham and Isaac and the ram. “…God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering…”
Genesis 22:8. God did provide Himself by sending His only Son, Jesus, who is God in human form. He was the lamb that Abraham was prophetically speaking of.
So cool! I love the Bible!
Saul was chosen of God and yet he made himself an enemy.
Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. 1 Samuel 15:23
Interesting how Saul turned to witchcraft to summon Samuel. Sin is sneaky and it (the devil) prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8.
The devil prowls around or sneaks around. Sin doesn’t present itself with a roar. A lion doesn’t roar while hunting. The roar comes when the prey is caught.
Saul didn’t start out seeking witches. He gave in to the seemingly little things first like a little white lie here, a little greed there. A slight disobedience by a detail left out and a cover up making room for pride.
All sin is God’s enemy. No such thing as a little sin.
Grace is amazing because it provides hope through repentance.
Simple, yet powerful!
Once we are born again, we can only become God’s enemy by continually embracing sin and rejecting God’s grace.
Time is short! Be quick to repent.
