Get Up And Go

David and Jonathan knew that they probably wouldn’t see each other for a long time. They hinted at the fact that it may be their last time together when they named their children and family as joint heirs in their covenant.

Many times, in the Bible, our story teller doesn’t give much detail. A simple statement can carry so much meaning.

Imagine the emotion that was felt in this scene.

They both went about their day, business as usual?

Not exactly. They had to get up and go because the king, Saul, was after them. David was running for his life and Jonathan was trying to run interference to give David a head start from his father.

There is only one other meeting recorded between the two after this. 1 Samuel 23:16.

Are you running for your life?

Maybe not, but we never know when the last time we see one another is, in fact , the last time.

Should we just get up and go or take another look or moment before departing and honor each other?

Action Step

Who do you need to honor?

Do something today to show them.
