Get Up

Why did Saul’s father have to order him to get up and go look for the lost donkeys?

In that day, livestock of any kind was quite valuable.

It is like money to us now or a valuable tool needed to run our business or do our job.

A responsible son, would have already been out searching.

This verse gives us insight to the character of Saul. He wasn’t proactive or ambitious.

It would seem to show that he was spoiled, and self-centered.

His father commanded him to get up.

Why was he laying down in the middle of the day during a family crisis?

He wasn’t an infant.

Maybe he had worn himself out doing his personal work out

His father also said, “Take now.”

Why did he have to tell him now?

It would seem to imply that Saul was a procrastinator.

On the outside, Saul was handsome and strong.

On the inside it would appear that he was selfish and irresponsible.

What kind of king are you?

Jesus has called us to be rulers over this world

Action Step

God has commanded us to get up and find His lost sheep.

Jesus is coming soon and He left us in charge.

Our Father is saying, “Get up!”
