Day1
Week31
2 Samuel
“She said, “In former times, they would say, ‘Let them inquire carefully in Abel,’ and thus they would resolve an issue. I am a trustworthy and faithful one of Israel. You are attempting to destroy a city, even a mother, in Israel. Why do you swallow up the inheritance of the Lord?” Joab responded, “Far be it, far be it from me to swallow up or destroy. That is not true. But a man from the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted his hand against King David. Only deliver him, and I will depart from the city.” And the woman said to Joab, “Behold, his head will be thrown to you over the wall.””

Far Be It From me
Has your zeal to do good ever been misunderstood?
Joab was rushing in with his army to end a rebellion against the king. His intentions were good, but in his haste he was about to destroy the innocent along with the perpetrator.
Sometimes we rush in to help a friend or loved one and don’t consider if they want or need help. Our heart may be saying, “Far be it from me to cause trouble..”, but our eagerness to take charge and get things done may be foolish.
Wisdom comes from God and He is eager to give it, but one thing is required. We must slow down and ask Him.
Action Step
Did you ask?
God, please show me what in my life I'm withholding from You.
I want to live fully surrendered. Teach me how to prioritize following You and loving others. No matter how difficult, I want to daily deny my self-focused desires, and seek You first. In Jesus' name, Amen.
