Faithful Servant

Day2

Week24

2 Samuel

“Now Absalom and all of the Israelite people entered Jerusalem, and Ahithophel was with him. When Hushai the Arkite, the friend of David, came to Absalom, Hushai said to Absalom, “Long live the king! Long live the king!” Then Absalom said to Hushai, “Is this the extent of your commitment to your friend? Why have you not gone with your friend?” Hushai said to Absalom, “No! For whom the Lord, this people, and all men of Israel have chosen, his I will be and with him I will remain. Furthermore, whom shall I serve? Should it not be his son? As I served your father, so shall I be with you.””

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬-‭19‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Faithful Servant

Working in the service industry, as a hair designer for all my life, I have a unique understanding of what being a faithful servant means.

People in general can be very demanding of your time. To be considered a faithful servant, one must be somewhat “on call” to the needs of others on short notice.

David’s servant was willing to risk everything and even lie to do the will of his master.

How far are we willing to go to be a faithful servant to our Lord?

I have a tendency to be bent out of shape at the slightest change in my schedule.

How about you?

Do you easily adjust to changes in order to please others?

A faithful servant is one who is selfless and willing to sacrifice for others.

God is looking for the faithful.

Action Step

Humility is the first step to faithfulness.

God, I want to walk with You. Help me to crave a life that is led by You.

Today, please fill me with Your Spirit's wisdom, power, and strength. Give me the courage to be still and trust You. Teach me to listen to Your Spirit, and show me how to obey You faithfully and follow You boldly. In Jesus'name, Amen.
