Day3
Week24
2 Samuel
“Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give your advice. What shall we do?” Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Lie with your father’s concubines, whom he left to watch over the palace. When all Israel hears that you have made yourself abhorred by your father, then the hands of all who are with you will be strong.” So they set up a tent for Absalom on the roof, and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all of Israel. In those days, the advice that Ahithophel gave was as when one inquired a word from God. Such was all of the advice of Ahithophel, whether that which he gave to David or to Absalom.”

Eye For An Eye
Ahithophel’s advice seems cruel, and ungodly, however if you look back at Nathan’s prophecy to David after he took Bathsheeba and had her husband murdered, You will find that God declared thru the prophet that , ““Thus says the Lord: Behold, I will raise up trouble against you from within your own house. I will take your wives before your eyes and will give them to your neighbor, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight. Although you did it secretly, I will do this thing before all of Israel, and under the sun.””
An eye for an eye is exactly what was prophesied and what happened to David.
Sin has consequences. When we choose to sin we set in motion the path of evil in our own lives.
God is merciful and because of Jesus paying the price with His blood for us we can receive forgiveness.
Not without the shedding of blood can we be forgiven.
Do not take it lightly.
Action Step
Let us then come with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
