Day1

1Samuel 23

Week 38

“Then they told David, “Listen, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are looting the threshing floors.” Therefore David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” And the Lord said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines, and rescue Keilah.” The men of David said to him, “We are afraid here in Judah. How much more then, if we go down to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?” Then David again inquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered him and said, “Arise, go down to Keilah because I am giving the Philistines into your hand.” Then David and his men went to Keilah. He fought with the Philistines and carried off their livestock, and he struck them with a great slaughter. So David rescued the inhabitants of Keilah. When Abiathar the son of Ahimelek fled to David at Keilah, he came down with the ephod in his hand.”

How often do you pray?

We, as Christ followers, have been given direct access to communicate with God.

David did not have that privilege.

The Holy Spirit actually lives on the inside of us.

David did not have that either.

It is hard to imagine having to seek a priest or an object, such as an ephod or to cast lots just to be able to talk to God.

Jesus is our ephod. He is the priestly garment that we put on. We are to clothe ourselves In righteousness. Ephesians 4:24-32. The new man. We take off the old coat or sin nature by repentance and baptism. We put on the new ephod( priestly garment) by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior.

We only need to seek Him.

He is the righteousness! His shed blood not only covers us or clothes us, but cleanses us. We are now the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Even though it was difficult to seek God in the time of David, he still understood that he could do nothing without God. He still asked of God.

How much more should we?

Action Step

Put on your ephod (a fresh garment of His blood) today by simply asking Jesus to direct your path.

God is with you and for you today!

Allow those thoughts to comfort and guide you as you go about your day.
