Dirty Little Secret

Have you ever told a white lie to keep yourself out of trouble when no one was looking?

Maybe there is a dirty little secret lurking in your past?

David was running for his life and he devised a plan of his own to provide for himself and his men by way of lying when he thought no one was looking.

Completely trusting in God should be a no- brainer, but when our neck is on the line, like David’s was, most of us rely on our own strength and wisdom.

God is always with us! He is always watching us. There is no dirty little secret that gets by Him unnoticed.

He’s not waiting for opportunities to catch us screwing up. He is watching for opportunities to showcase His love for us.

Davis took matters into his own hands. God did not strike him down for doing so.

He will not strike you down for doing so. He loves you.

He wants you to rely on Him and trust Him to care for you and protect you.

As our story unfolds later in the next chapter, we will see that David paid a high price for his dirty little secret. Sin always comes with strings attached. There is always a consequence for disobedience.

God is merciful and His grace is given every time we ask.

Action Step

Is there an area where you need to come clean before the Lord today?

Control, anger, foul language, lying, worry….

He is full of compassion for you.

Open your hands and relax. Release it and confess it to Jesus.

Receive His love and forgiveness.

Don’t leave this space until you are ready.
