Day4
Week9
1Samuel
“See, if it goes up by the way of His own territory to Beth Shemesh, then He has done us this great evil. But if not, then we will know that it is not His hand that struck us; it was by chance that it happened to us.” The men did so. And they took two milk cows, tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home. And they set the ark of the Lord on the cart, as well as the box with the mice of gold and the images of their tumors. Then the cows took the straight way to the way of Beth Shemesh, and went along the highway, lowing as they went. They did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left with the Lords of the Philistines walking after them to the border of Beth Shemesh.”

Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures
“All we can do is pray.”
Have you ever said that or heard someone say that?
The 5 Lords of the Philistines actually followed the cart carrying the Ark of the Covenant.
Kings and rulers do not carry out orders.
They give orders and their men obey.
Things we’re desperate!
They had to see for themselves.
Does it take desperate circumstances for you to pray?
God desires relationship.
He longs for communion with us.
Prayer is a most important part of that communal relationship.
Time and chance happen to us all.
The difference is that when you have prepared yourself by praying regularly, simply talking and listening to God throughout your day everyday, you are able to redeem the time and stand firm in your faith no matter what chance may present itself.

Preparation
Reliance
Adjustment
Yearning
PREPARE through prayer for the grace to endure in the areas that you are weak ahead of time.
You know your weakness and if you don’t, the Holy Spirit will show you. ( don’t wait until you are standing in front of the buffet to ask for strength to resist stuffing yourself)
Fix the roof before the rain comes.
RELY on God. He is faithful to His word and we are in covenant with Him.
He loves you.
Put your trust in Him.
Build up your faith by praying in the Holy Spirit until you are fully persuaded that you can rely on God.
Let Him become your only source!
ADJUSTMENTS will need to be made in our attitudes.
Prayer is a great place for these adjustments.
God will direct you and stretch your thinking so that you can have the mind of Christ. Through prayer and study of His word your faith will come into agreement with God’s way of thinking and doing things.
YEARN for more of God. Seek Him first.
Prayer is a conversation.
A tool for communion with your Heavenly Father.
The more you invest in your conversation with God, the more you will see growth and change in your life.
To yearn is to long for deeply.
Develop a listening habit in your prayer time. Yearn for His presence and learn to receive from your Father.
