Defenseless

Day3

Week20

1Samuel 13

“There wasn’t a blacksmith to be found anywhere in Israel. The Philistines made sure of that—“Lest those Hebrews start making swords and spears.” That meant that the Israelites had to go down among the Philistines to keep their farm tools—plowshares and mattocks, axes and sickles—sharp and in good repair. They charged a silver coin for the plowshares and mattocks, and half that for the rest. So when the battle of Micmash was joined, there wasn’t a sword or spear to be found anywhere in Israel—except for Saul and his son Jonathan; they were both well-armed. A patrol of Philistines took up a position at Micmash Pass.”

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭13‬:‭19‬-‭23‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Defenseless

What are you facing in your life right now?

You may feel like you’re hands are empty and you have nothing to go to battle with.

The Israelites had no swords or spears.

All the blacksmiths of Israel had been captured and the Philistines had been charging a high price just for the sharpening of farm equipment. No Israelite could afford the price of weapons.

It is no wonder they ran for the caves and hid.

They were defenseless.

Or were they?

God had delivered them time after time without manmade weapons.

The Red sea, the walls of Jericho…just to name a few.

Are you looking at your hands and coming up empty?

God doesn’t need our hands, but our faith.

Remember how he has been faithful in your past.
