Day5
Mark14:46-50
“Then the armed men seized Jesus to arrest him. One of the disciples pulled out a sword and swung it at the servant of Caiaphas, the high priest, slashing off his ear. Jesus said to the mob, “Why would you arrest me with swords and clubs as though I were an outlaw? Day after day I sat with you in the temple courts, teaching the people, yet you didn’t arrest me then. But all of this fulfills the prophecies of the Scriptures.” At that point all of his disciples ran away and abandoned him.”

Defense
Is it shocking that Peter tried to defend Jesus with his sword? Jesus had been asking them to keep watch, be alert, stand guard… all night. Now when they come to take Him away Peter does what he thought he was supposed to do.
The thing is, Jesus was not talking about that kind of defense. Jesus was pleading with them all night to pray and to be spiritually ready for battle.
According to John’s account, when they asked for Jesus and He said, "I Am” they all fell to the ground.
Jesus doesn’t need us to defend Him to those around us. He doesn’t want us to argue and fight on His behalf.
Pray.
“Be faithful to pray as intercessors who are fully alert and giving thanks to God.”
Colossians 4:2 TPT
Fully alert and full of thanksgiving. This is the kind of defense that Jesus was talking about.
When we spend time in prayer and talk to our Father, thanking Him for all things and telling Him our concerns, then we will be ready for anything.
A spirit of gratitude develops in us the more time we invest in conversation with our Savior.
Let Love be your defense!
