Day4

Week30

2 Samuel

“Now one of the young men of Joab stood by him and said, “Whoever favors Joab and whoever is for David, let him follow Joab.” Now Amasa was wallowing in his own blood in the middle of the path. When the man saw that all of the people stood still, he moved Amasa from the path to the field and threw a covering over him, when he observed that everyone who passed by would stop. Once he removed him from the path, all of the men passed by, following Joab in pursuit of Sheba the son of Bichri.”

Cover Up

It is human nature to cover up sin.

Have you ever tried to cover up something that you were ashamed of?

Joab premeditated the murder of Amasa. He was jealous that David had put him in charge of the troops over him. He murdered Amasa openly in front of everyone, but then ordered one of his men to cover it up and announce a bold lie using David’s name to gain favor with the men.

Sounds like politics as usual, right?

The best man can do is to cover up sin. Even with the blood of bulls and goats, the sacrifice only covered sin for a time.

Jesus came to expose sin and obliterate its power over us.

What are you hiding in shame?

Expose  it to Jesus and let it go. It can only have power over you if you keep it hidden.

Action Step

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

MATTHEW 11:28 MEV

Picture holding your concerns and worries out in front of you, and bring them before the God who hears and cares about you.

Lay down any burdens you have in front of Jesus and let go…
