Day4
Week10
2 Samuel
“When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up after you an offspring from your body, and I will establish his rule. He will build a house for My name, and I will establish his royal throne forever. I will be a father to him, and he will be a son to Me. When he goes astray, I will correct him with the rod of men and afflictions of the sons of men. My commitment will not abandon him, as I removed it from Saul, whom I deposed before you. Your house and dominion will endure before Me forever, and your throne will be established by the Lord forever.”

Covenant Promise
God makes a new covenant promise to David through his son Solomon which also sets up our new covenant promise of Jesus.
Covenant vs Promise-
Covenants are supposed to be “two-sided” promises: that is, ALL parties involved in a covenant are supposed to keep up the end of the agreement.
A promise is “one-sided”: that is one person makes himself responsible to carry out a duty.
Take notice that God is making a covenant and a promise.
He is going to establish David’s throne forever and take care of this kingdom by acting as a loving father. Rather than cut off David’s line when they disobey, He will discipline them and keep them and receive them as His own.
In other words, our part of the covenant is to obey, but because God knew that we would struggle, He took care of that , too by the shed blood of Jesus.
We simply receive Jesus and accept forgiveness.
God made allowance for us to humble ourselves before Him and repent when we mess up.
He paid it all!
Action Step
“For the same God who made everything, our Creator and our mighty maker, he himself is our helper and defender!”
Psalms 124:8 TPT
Think about a challenge you are facing.
Imagine Jesus standing nearby. Call out to Him. What does He do? How does He respond?
