2 Samuel

“One evening when David arose from his bed and was walking on the roof of the king’s house, from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful. So, David sent someone to inquire about the woman. And it was asked, “Is this not Bathsheba the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?””

Covenant Eyes

David’s men were in the wilderness, sleeping in the open in the middle of battle.

David was at home in his own bed and yet restless. He woke in the night. He had a choice to make. He could seek the Lord or figure it out on his own.

He may have went to the roof to talk to God, but instead he found a distraction waiting for him.

What are you looking at?

Are you using covenant eyes?

Remember the advice of Job.

““I made a covenant with my eyes not to look at a young woman in a way that would make me want her.”

‭‭Job‬ ‭31‬:‭1‬ ‭ERV‬‬

Every choice we make sets us up for the next one. Our eyes can cause us to make poor choices if we are not careful.

David chose not go with his men into battle. He then chose to go up to the roof in the middle of the night. He saw a woman and chose to look long enough to see that she was beautiful. Next he chose to find someone to ask more about her. He then made the choice to take what belonged to another man for himself.

We need to make and keep a covenant with our eyes.

Be careful little eyes what you see!

Action Step

Check yourself! What are you looking at? Tv, internet, pictures, people passing by…

Covenant eyes do not stare, but only glance and redirect refusing to take the thought or glance captive.

One thing leads to another….

Do not be fooled!
