Day5
1Samuel 22
Week 37
“But one of the sons of Ahimelek the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David. Abiathar reported to David that Saul had killed the priests of the Lord. David said to Abiathar, “I knew it that day when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I have caused the death of all the persons of your father’s house. Remain with me. Do not fear. For the one who seeks my life seeks your life, but you are safe with me.””

Consequences
Have you ever talked to your kids about the consequences to their actions?
I’m sure we all have.
David took matters into his own hands and now is faced with the consequences that not only affect him, but also have caused many deaths. That’s heavy. Even so, David faced up to his actions and admitted his guilt.
Sin always has consequences. The Bible is quite clear that sin separates us from God and ultimately leads to eternal death and destruction.
Why is it that we still fall into this trap and try to reason our way out or manipulate circumstances by lying or telling a half truth…?
The truth is that Jesus already faced the consequences of our sin!
He paid for it with His life.
He shed His blood so that we could be free.
There are no shortcuts, no easy way around it.
All we need is to repent and follow Him.
We can not control outcomes anyway.
Action Step
Whatever it is that you struggle with, hand it over to Jesus and let Him walk you through the consequences.
Let Jesus set you free!
