Choose Sides

Day2

1Samuel 26

Week 43

“Then David went over to the other side and stood on the top of a hill at a distance. A great space was between them. And David called to the people and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, “Will you not answer, Abner?” Then Abner answered and said, “Who are you that calls to the king?” And David said to Abner, “Are you not a man? And who is like to you in Israel? Why then have you not guarded your Lord the king? For one of the people came in to destroy the king your Lord. This thing is not good which you have done. As the Lord lives, you are worthy of death because you have not guarded your master, the Lord’s anointed. And now, see where is the king’s spear? And the jug of water that was at his head?””

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭26‬:‭13‬-‭16‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Choose Sides

Abner was in a tough spot. He chose to align with the king and he did his best to protect him, nevertheless he failed.

Who’s side are you on?

We all have to choose sides. It may seem like an obvious choice to make, but if you look more closely you may discover in your own life that fear can be very persuasive in pushing us to choose sides unwisely.

Do you choose to follow your spouse, boss, friend, peers, political leader, news caster, pastor or Jesus?

We all eventually will be put in a position to make a decision to choose sides.

Will you follow your convictions or cave in to fear?

Have you already caved in an area in your life?

It’s not over.

You can repent and ask for strength to overcome the challenges next time.

Action Step

Ask yourself who you are really following?

If you’re honest, it is most likely yourself. We all are hardwired or “sin-wired” for self- preservation.

Ask Jesus to renew your mind to think like Him.
