Day4
Week25
1Samuel 15
“As Samuel turned to go, Saul tried to hold him back and tore the hem of his robe. And Samuel said to him, “The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to someone else—one who is better than you. And he who is the Glory of Israel will not lie, nor will he change his mind, for he is not human that he should change his mind!” Then Saul pleaded again, “I know I have sinned. But please, at least honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel by coming back with me so that I may worship the Lord your God.” So Samuel finally agreed and went back with him, and Saul worshiped the Lord.”

Change
These verses display our very fickle human behavior in direct contrast to our faithful, unchanging God.
Grace does not change God’s mind or alter His laws. Grace simply offers us redemption.
Saul did not let go of his pride even when faced with ruin. He said he was sorry, but his biggest concern was being humiliated in front of the elders of the people.
Sound familiar?
I’m sorry God, but please don’t make me look foolish in front of everyone.
It is a hard thing to swallow our pride.
Hard is not impossible. It is much better to place your fate in the loving hands of Jesus than to fall into the hands of our fearful God!
Pride goes before a fall.
