Cease Striving

Day5

Week3

1 Samuel

“He will keep the feet of his holy ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness; for no man will prevail by strength. Those who strive with the LORD shall be broken to pieces. He will thunder against them in the sky. “The LORD will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.” Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. The child served the LORD before Eli the priest.”

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭WMB‬‬

Cease Striving

The Lord guards our path. He watches over our feet or our steps.

Verse 10 says “Those who strive with the Lord shall be broken in pieces.”

What does it look like to strive with the Lord?

Is this speaking of His enemies?

Who are His enemies?

The enemies of God are the children of disobedience.

God commanded us in Psalm 46:10 to “Cease striving “

Jesus said, “Come to me all you who are weary and heavily burdened and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Are you entering into His rest?

Sabbath rest is not just relaxing on Sunday.

Entering into His rest is trusting that what God said He is able to accomplish He will do and believing that He wants to do it for you. Matthew 8:3(I will)

God has supplied all our needs according to His riches in glory!

Worry and stress are symptoms of striving with the Lord!

Doubt is disobedience!

Non-believers worry, fret, and strive to gain and meet their own needs.

We have the promises of God that He takes care of us! He guards our path

Striving leads to being broken in pieces

Stress is the #1 cause of sickness and disease.

It will leave you broken and in pieces.

Yes we are to do what we can, but after we have done our part… we simply must trust and enter into His rest.

1 Peter 5:7

Throw your cares in and close the lid!(paraphrased)

Action Step:

Meditate on 1Peter 5:7

Imagine yourself tossing clothes in the washer and closing the lid!

Every time you begin to think about a concern, see yourself tossing it in and closing the lid.

Remember that opening the lid is striving or fighting God. Your cycle will never finish if you keep opening the lid.

No more striving, enter into rest!
