Day5
1 Samuel 20
Week34
“So David hid himself in the field. And when the New Moon appeared, the king sat down over food to eat. Now the king sat on his seat, as at other times, even on a seat by the wall. Then Jonathan arose and Abner sat by Saul’s side, but David’s place was empty. Nevertheless Saul did not say anything that day. For he thought, “Something has happened. He is not clean; surely he is not clean.” It happened on the following day, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place remained empty. So Saul said to Jonathan his son, “Why has the son of Jesse not come to eat food either yesterday or today?””

Cause For Alarm
How many missed church services in a row does it take before you reach out to your friends?
A person may have legitimate reason to miss one Sunday, right?
What if they are absent for 2 in a row? Maybe they are on vacation?
Okay, so 3 Sundays in a row and no show Joe?
Is that cause for alarm?
Saul didn’t mention it when David missed the first meal of the feast. Anything could have happened.
After the second meal, that was cause for alarm!
How much more should we stay connected to our friends, other members of the body of Christ when they go missing?
I am guilty of minding my own business and even being oblivious to the absence of others.
Are you also minding your own business?
Isn’t that saying actually self-centered?
Jesus created a body of believers to be fitly joined together. Connected to each other closely.
We are not designed to exist by ourselves.
God created mankind so that He could have a family.
We are created to live together in community with each other to support one another, depend upon one another, lift each other up and build His church together.
A body of believers. Not a house full of toes or arms.
Think of that a minute.
A building full of parts lying around.

What about one body with all it’s parts working together?
That is the church!
Whose missing?
Is there cause for alarm?
