Day5

Week4

2 Samuel

”They carried Asahel back and interred him in his father’s tomb, which was at Bethlehem. Then Joab and his men traveled throughout the night and reached Hebron at dawn.“

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭2‬:‭32‬ ‭MEV‬‬

No cross references for this verse.

Carried Back

Think of a time when a decision you made left others with a mess to clean up.

Maybe it was something simple like sleeping in an extra 10 minutes and then in your haste spilling your coffee on a family member’s belongings.

It may have been more serious, like in my case; rushing into a marriage against everyone else’s better judgment only to end up in divorce after producing 2 innocent children who as adults are having to parent their father.

The common denominator here is rushing. Asahel made a rash decision and he was carried back to his grave by his comrades.

When we rush into a decision we will most likely be carried back to worse conditions than we started with and those we love usually end up suffering.

Action Step

If you feel pressure to decide quickly, it is a good indication that you should step back and ask God for help.

”And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.“

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Pause.

God is with you and for you.

Allow that truth to inform your decisions throughout your day today.
