Week 4
Day5
P.R.A.Y.
Y is for yearning
This is our fourth and final week taking a deep dive into prayer.
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Jesus knows how burdened we can become by life and so offers an open invitation to anyone and everyone who is laboring under a heavy toll and seeks to find rest for their soul. Who is it that labors? All who are trying to carry their own loads in life without the aid of the sovereign and omnipotent God. Who better to carry our loads than God Himself and Jesus, being God, can carry what we are not able too. Come to Him and He promises to give you rest.
We have been talking all week about yearning for God. In the above verse in Jesus request for us to come to Him, we can sense a yearning from Him for us.
Jesus longs for us. He wants to be in relationship with us. Talk to us and ultimately give us the relief we are looking for. He paid a high price for us to have a victorious, full life.
Recap:
PREPARE through prayer for the grace to endure in the areas that you are weak ahead of time. You know your weakness and if you don’t, the Holy Spirit will show you. ( don’t wait until you are standing in front of the buffet to ask for strength to resist stuffing yourself)
Fix the roof before the rain comes.
RELY on God. He is faithful to His word and we are in covenant with Him. He loves you. Put your trust in Him. Build up your faith by praying in the Holy Spirit until you are fully persuaded that you can rely on God. Let Him become your only source!
ADJUSTMENTS will need to be made in our attitudes. Prayer is a great place for these adjustments. God will direct you and stretch your thinking so that you can have the mind of Christ. Through prayer and study of His word your faith will come into agreement with God’s way of thinking and doing things.
YEARN for more of God. Seek Him first. Prayer is a conversation. A tool for communion with your Heavenly Father. The more you invest in your conversation with God, the more you will see growth and change in your life. To yearn is to long for deeply. Develop a listening habit in your prayer time. Yearn for His presence and learn to receive from your Father.
The fire is getting hotter! Pray.
Let’s get fired up!
