Burden or Joy

d. And to whom shall it go up from us?

For the men of Beth Shemesh, the holiness of God was a problem, a problem that could be fixed by putting distance between themselves and God. Their question was not, “How can we be made right with a holy God,” but it was “Who can we give this problem to so the holiness of God is no longer a burden to us?”

Pride is an abomination to God. Proverbs 16:5

The simplest answer is not always the easiest.

Repentance is simple and causes great joy.

Pride causes us to reject the simple and thus simple becomes a burden.

Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Luke 11:4

The love of God creates in us a soft, humble heart.

Action Step

Burden or joy?

Pride or repentance?

Simple isn’t easy, but it is necessary.
