Bounce!

Raindrops bouncing and dancing on the pavement.

Observing this simple motion brought such peace and joy to my heart looking out the window one rainy day.

I began to laugh at the animated sight. Never before had I noticed the bounce of a raindrop as it falls on the hard surface of the pavement.

The sky was gray and filled with gloom, but as I changed my focus to the shiny black pavement, joy was found in the midst of the mundane.

I was tempted, for a moment, to join my new friends; the large, wet raindrops, in their dance. Reality quickly set in, as I remembered that I was in the middle of my workday. I decided against it.

My mind was taken back to childhood; stomping in the fresh rain puddles and dancing in the rain without fear of life's outcome. Those beautiful raindrops reminded me that everyone falls from time to time, but when we change our focus from the failure to the promises of God, we will also be able to bounce.

God made us resilient. Joy is hidden where we choose to focus. In the simple everyday things.

In the storms of life, do you choose to enjoy the freedom found in dancing with the raindrops (focusing on the promises of God) or do you watch the gloom filled, gray sky (focusing on your circumstances)?
