Bold Face Lie

Day5

Week1

2 Samuel

”Then David asked the young man who was reporting to him, “Where are you from?” He responded, “I am the son of one who sought refuge, an Amalekite.” David said to him, “How is it that you did not fear raising your hand to destroy the anointed of the Lord?” Then David called to one of the young men and said, “Step forward and execute him.” So he struck him and killed him. But David said to him, “Your blood is upon your own head, since your mouth has testified against you, saying, ‘I put an end to the anointed of the Lord.’ ”“

Bold Face Lie

Have you ever been lied to?

I’m sure we all have,right?

This Amalekite man saw an opportunity for advancement and conjured up a bold face lie to gain favor with David, whom he perceived to be the next king.

His story didn’t add up, especially to a seasoned warrior like David.

Have you ever caught anyone in a bold face lie?

It is insulting to say the least!

How dumb do you think I am, right?

That is not what David was concerned about, though.

He was concerned that God was being insulted.

“I put an end to the anointed of the Lord.”Said the Amalekite.

Have you ever questioned the authority of your pastor?

What about voicing your concerns to another about the decisions or directions of the ministry you belong to?

What about bad mouthing another ministry?

What about an elected official?

God is responsible for all those in authority. ( Romans 13:1)

In our culture people are not put to death for such things, but we are certainly in danger of spiritual death.

God is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8).

Are we concerned about insulting God?

Action Step

What is sin? Sin is choosing our way instead of God’s. Sin is rebelling against His design and His plan.

We’ve all done it.—We’ve all fallen short of God’s righteousness.

That’s why He sent Jesus.

Be honest with Him right now. Tell Him how you feel and then be still and let Him minister to you.

Repent where needed and allow God to refresh you.
