Blow Your Horn

Day5

Week29

2 Samuel

“There happened to be a worthless man there whose name was Sheba the son of Bichri, a Benjamite. He sounded the trumpet and said, “We have no share in David, nor do we have an inheritance in the son of Jesse; every man to his tents, O Israel.” So every man of Israel withdrew from following David and followed after Sheba the son of Bichri, but the men of Judah stayed with their king, from the Jordan as far as Jerusalem.”

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭20‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Blow Your Horn

Pride and rebellion go hand and hand. It is interesting to me that it was recorded that this rebel was a worthless man, but many Israelites followed him anyway.

Have you ever fallen into the temptation to blow your horn or brag about your self?

Pride is rooted in self. I have found that when I allow myself to become obsessed with my own needs, wants and desires that I am worthless to the Kingdom of God and when in this condition it doesn’t end well.

It doesn’t matter how many people you get to agree with you. It only matters if you are in agreement with the Word of God.

God will lift us up in due season. We only need to humble ourselves and wait on Him.

Action Step

As you put your trust in God, He cares for and watches over your soul. While it can be difficult to trust God

in uncertain times, Scripture tells us that it is the only way to true security.

Take some time today to consider your own life and the circumstances you're in.

Whether your situation is a good one or a bad one, remember these three truths:

  •   God is good.

  •   God is your refuge.

  • God cares for you.
