Day4
1 Samuel 18
Week32
“Now Michal, daughter of Saul, loved David and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him. Saul said, “I will give her to him that she may be a snare to him, and so that the hand of the Philistines may be against him.” Therefore Saul said to David, “For a second time, you may be my son-in-law today.” Saul commanded his servants, saying, “Speak to David in secret saying, ‘Listen, the king delights in you and all his servants love you. Now therefore become the king’s son-in-law.’ ” So the servants of Saul spoke these words in the ears of David. And David said, “Does it seem to you a light thing to be a king’s son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man, and lightly esteemed?””

Blessing or Bait
Have you ever had a “Too good to be true” situation?
Saul was presenting a favorable situation to David.
Was it truly a Blessing or Bait?
At first glance , I’m sure David would have thought the offer was a blessing, but we know that Saul was using it as bait to ultimately get rid of David.
Sometimes our struggles are there to protect us.
David was poor and couldn’t afford the traditional bridal dowry for the King’s daughter.
Had David had the money for the dowry, he would have missed the opportunity for greater blessing and honor through winning in battle by God’s favor.
David may have taken the bait and been deceived missing the experience of fighting the battle and learning to trust God through it.
What are you struggling in right now?
God may be trying to lift you up through your battle for greater blessing and honor.
Look again to determine if your struggle could be Blessing or Bait.
God used David’s lack to show out in his life by honoring him with great victory in battle to not only earn the dowry, but let everyone know that God was with him.
God took what Saul meant as bait to snare David and He turned it into great blessing and honor for David.
