Be Our Guest
Do you remember the popular, Disney, animated movie from the late nineties, “Beauty and the Beast “?
One of the catchy tunes from the show was a song called “Be Our Guest”.
All of the characters from the castle were so eager to entertain and serve their guests, in fact they were desperate to serve anyone who would come.
We are instructed to make room in our hearts for every believer and strangers.
I can’t speak for you, but I barely have room in my heart or my schedule to serve my own family let alone “every” believer.
What about strangers?
I sometimes have an easier time being gracious to strangers than friends and family.
What about you?
The characters in the movie are offering hospitality by inviting strangers into their home.
This scripture seems to be pointing to a more broad sense.
For example; maybe we walk past someone we know who may not quite fit in to our social standards or may have offended us or may be caught up in a pet sin as if they were contagious.
We may be too busy to even notice those around us.
God is prompting us to make room in our hearts on a daily basis to invite others to be our guest into our personal space as we go about our lives each moment.
How does that play out?
A simple smile or an encouraging hello. You may invite a conversation in the checkout line.
Respond to your spouse with enthusiasm and a listening ear, rather than a brush off or defensive attitude.
This lesson applies to our personal or casual relationships as well as to strangers we may encounter along the way.
