Ask And You Shall Receive

Day2

Week23

1Samuel 14

“So Saul took the kingdom over Israel and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the Ammonites, against Edom and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines. Whatever place he turned himself, he defeated them. He gathered an army, and struck the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hand of its plunderers. Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, Ishvi, and Malki-Shua. And the names of his two daughters were Merab, the firstborn, and Michal, the youngest. And the name of the wife of Saul was Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz. And the name of the captain of his army was Abner, the son of Ner, the uncle of Saul. Kish was the father of Saul, and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel. There was strong war against the Philistines all the days of Saul, and when Saul saw any strong man, or any valiant man, he took him into his service.”

Ask and You Shall Receive

The people wanted a king. They begged Samuel for a king so they could be like all the other nations.

God had set them apart as a special chosen people. He wanted them to be an example to all humanity so everyone would see God and want to follow Him.

It is not easy to walk by faith. I find myself in this predicament often. Looking at what I can see with my own eyes and allowing fear to dictate my choices rather than trust in my God and King.

What about you?

The people asked, ( more like grumbled and complained), but God gave them what they asked for and now exactly what Samuel warned them about has happened.

Have you ever been there?

Job said, “The thing I feared the most has come upon me.”

We must be careful what we ask for or grumble about.

Action Step

What have you been grumbling about?

Make a list of 5 things that you are grateful for.

Use your lips to tell God how much you appreciate those blessings throughout your day and week.

Watch how God will move on your behalf in the area of your needs.

The depth of your praise determines the magnitude of your blessings.

He dwells in the praises of His people. Psalm 22:3
