An Oscar

Oh! The drama we are watching unfold as we read this story! It would appear that Absalom was born out of his time and surely would have won an Oscar in today’s Hollywood scene.

Acting for a movie is one thing, but pretending to be something you are not to gain favor with others is a whole other matter.

Have you ever done that? Maybe as a teen, trying to make friends and become popular or tough?

As adults we can fall into thot at a new job or when meeting new people.

God created each one of us to be individuals for a specific purpose. If we try to be like someone else or what we think will please another, then we will miss our intended purpose and not only that, but we open ourselves up to the tricks of the enemy.

The only Oscar we need to concern ourselves with is the words, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.” spoken by our Lord Jesus.

Action Step

Consider praying like this:

God, I want to honor You. But too often, I fear people more than I love You. You are greater than any situation or person.

You alone are worthy of my devotion. So please help me to put You first in everything I think and do. Remove any distractions or fears that keep me from staying focused on You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
