A is for Adjustment
This is our third week taking a deep dive into prayer.
Adjustment:
a small alteration or movement made to achieve a desired fit, appearance, or result.
To change (something) so that it fits, corresponds, or conforms; adapt; accommodate: to adjust expenses to income. to put in good working order; regulate; bring to a proper state or position: to adjust an instrument.
2 Timothy3:16-17
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Cross references
Romans 15:4;
Hebrews 4:12;
2 Peter 1:19-21;
2 Corinthians 9:8;
1 Timothy 6:11
Today’s passage uses word’s like teaching, reproof, correction, and training.
Would you agree that the above passage already sounds like we are going to need to be willing to make some adjustments?
Have you ever listened to your car running and thought, “Something doesn’t sound right.”?
What did you do about it?
Chances are pretty good that you took it to a professional mechanic and had it checked out.
Maybe the timing was off and the engine was running too fast.
After an adjustment was made, your car sounded much better.
This is true in spiritual matters also. I think we can all agree that we get the timing out of whack in our circumstances and most often we are trying to go too fast.
ADJUSTMENTS will need to be made in our behavior, mindset and attitudes.
Prayer is a great place for these adjustments. God will direct us and stretch our thinking so that we can have the mind of Christ.
Through prayer and study of His word our faith will come into agreement with God’s way of thinking and doing things.
Action Step:
What areas are you out of timing? (Too fast, too slow, angry, hopeless, anxious….)
Behavior, mindset, attitude…
Identify at least one and ask Holy Spirit ( aka professional mechanic)
To lead you into adjustment mode and align your heart with His.
