Abandoned

Day3

1Samuel 31

Week 49

“When Israel’s fighting men who were on the other side of the valley, and those who were on the other side of the Jordan, saw that Israel’s fighting men fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned the cities and fled. So the Philistines came and lived in them. The following day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa. They cut off his head, stripped off his armor, and sent them into the land of the Philistines round about, to make it known in the house of their idols and among their people. They put his armor in the house of Ashtoreth, and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth Shan.”

Abandoned

Fear can cause us to retreat quickly and leave our blessings abandoned.

The Israelite people abandoned their cities for fear of attack. These cities were given to them by God.

Have you abandoned your God given blessings?

Jesus sacrificed everything so we could walk in victory. We must not flee in fear when our circumstances change or seem scary.

The Philistines were only able to occupy the Israelites’ cities because they abandoned them. They did not trust God to take care of them.

Whatever you are facing today:

Sickness, depression, pain in your body, financial hardship, troubled children…

God loves you and He is faithful.

Action Step

Stand and fight by thanking God for His faithfulness and remembering what He has already done. Remember Jesus finished work on the cross. Hold onto His promises and do not retreat!
