Day4
1Samuel 25
Week 40
“David said to his men, “Each man strap on his sword.” And each man strapped on his sword. David also put on his sword, and four hundred men went up after David. But two hundred stayed with the baggage. Now one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal’s wife, “Listen, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to bless our master; and he railed against them. But the men were very good to us, and we were not harmed, nor did we miss anything, all the days we went about with them in the field. They were a wall to us both by night and day, all the days we were with them keeping the flocks. Now therefore know and consider what you will do, for evil is determined against our master and against all his household. He is such a worthless man that one cannot speak to him.””

A Word and A Wall
Have you ever had a closed mind about a topic or toward a certain person? Maybe there was an argument or an offense at one time and a wall was formed between you and them. Maybe you were certain that your point of view was the only correct way.
David’s men came to Nabal with a good word and they had provided a wall of protection for Nabal’s shepherds and flock.
Nabal answered with a harsh word and a wall of pride and arrogance.
There is a direct contrast between the two leaders.
Both men offered a word and a wall.
What kind of wall are your words offering?
Do we speak the language of pride and arrogance putting up walls to protect ourselves or are we speaking peace, love and humility creating walls of protection and blessing for the listener.
Words matter!
One word from God can change everything!
Jesus gave us power and authority to speak His word in His name, therefore we have opportunities to build walls and to break down walls one word at a time.
The choice of words and the tone determines the kind of walls.
Everyday we are offering a word and a wall everywhere we go.
Action Step
Slow down and breathe.
When you are ready, ask God to show you how you can use your words for His glory today.
