A Set Up
Once back in middle school, a group of girls, that I thought were my friends, each individually invited me into conversation designed to catch me in a trap.
One by one they gossiped about the others to me encouraging me to do the same and unfortunately in my immature youth, I indulged. They then reported back to each other and used it against me to remove me from their group. It was a set up and I fell for it!
Have you ever experienced a set up?
Absalom chose these unsuspecting prominent men to invite along to his pretend feast honoring his pretend vow as part of his scheme to overthrow his father David.
Have your children ever manipulated you?
The enemy of our sole uses subtle manipulation to catch us off guard. This is why Peter warns us to be alert and watchful! 1 Peter 5:8.
Prayer is preparation for a set up. Time alone with God helps prepare us for the schemes of the deceiver.
Action Step
No prayer is too small for God.
Trust He loves you, and cares for you.
God,
Show me how I can make better choices today. Please give me discernment and wisdom in all of my interactions. Help me to develop healthy relationships with others, and make Your love visible in my life.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
