Day4
Week 6
Hebrews 6
“Melchizedek’s name means “king of righteousness.” He was the King of Peace, because the name of the city he ruled as king was Salem, which means “peace.” And he was also a priest of the Most High God. Now when Abraham was returning from defeating many kings in battle, Melchizedek went out to meet him and blessed him. Then Abraham took a tenth of everything he had won in battle and gave it to Melchizedek. This Melchizedek has no father or mother, and no record of any of his ancestors. He was never born and he never died, but his life is like a picture of the Son of God, a King-Priest forever!”

A Picture
Have you ever noticed that righteousness and peace are mentioned together a lot?
Every instance that I have come across mentions righteousness first and then peace.
Do you think that is a coincidence?
Melchizedek was a picture of what Jesus would fulfill.
First righteousness and then peace.
Jesus’ sacrifice and our acceptance of it made us the righteousness of God, in Christ.( 2 Corinthians 5:21)
After we receive that truth, we then have access to perfect peace made possible by the Prince of Peace.
If we struggle to walk in that peace, then we need to understand that the only place to look for it is in the mirror.
A self examination. I do not mean looking at our own works or lack or mess ups?
Righteousness can only be found through surrender to the King of righteousness, Jesus.
Peace comes from that surrender. Our eyes fixed on Him.
No surrender, no peace.
No peace, know peace!
Action Step
““The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.””
Lamentations 3:24 MEV
What does it mean to place your hope in God?
Talk to Him about what’s on your mind.
Open your hands right now as a symbolic surrender. Close your eyes and imagine your concerns and fears floating away into Jesus hands.
Stay a while and rest in His arms.
