Day2
1Samuel 29
Week 46
“Now the Philistines gathered together all their armies to Aphek, and the children of Israel were camping by the spring which is in Jezreel. The Lords of the Philistines were advancing by hundreds and by thousands, and David and his men were advancing in the rear with Achish. Then the princes of the Philistines said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?” And Achish said to the princes of the Philistines, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or rather these years? And I have found no fault in him since the day of his desertion to this day.””

A Pickle
It would appear that David has gotten himself into quite a pickle!
His games of compromise and deception have led him into an impossible choice. Who’s side is David really on anyway?
Sometimes our choices put us in sticky situations. Have we been blending in with every one around us?
The line was drawn and David had to chose sides. He either had to side with the king, ( enemy of Israel) or with his people, causing most certain death for him and his men.
Today, let’s focus on how he got into this rather than who’s side he chose.
Did David consult God before he moved into enemy territory?
No.
Although David had an eager heart to please God, did he actually ask God if he should attack surrounding towns and lie to the king about it?
No.
Have you ever worked something out on your own only to wind up in a pickle?
Never underestimate the importance of prayer.
Action Step
Develop a habit of seeking God in the small things.
Ask Him what route should I take to work today?, Should I take an umbrella?…. The small insignificant things.
This will set the standard in your prayer life so that when there is a big thing, you are able to hear Him easily.
