A First Time

Day3

Week 14

Hebrews 11

”By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king. He endured by looking to Him who is invisible. By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest the one who destroys the firstborn touch them. By faith they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land, which the Egyptians attempted to do, but were drowned.“

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭27‬-‭29‬ ‭MEV‬‬

A First Time

We really like to celebrate a first time for something.

The first man on the moon, the first flight, baby’s first steps…

My ancestor Peregrine White was the first baby born on New England, American territory while docked at Cape Cod aboard the Mayflower.

The thing about a first time is that it was never done before. First times required faith to step out beyond what was comfortable, beyond what could be seen with human eyes.

The first time stories of our forefathers in faith are pictures for us to look back at in order to see our future.

We have access to the whole Bible. It is a word picture for us to cling to.

God specializes in firsts!

Every step of faith is a first because you have to move beyond what you can see and most of the time beyond what you can understand.

What "first", is God calling you to step into?

Are you first in your family to be a believer?

First to go to college?

First to write a book?

First to invent something?

First to overcome addiction?

First to overcome depression?

First to…..?

Action Step

There is therefore now no condemnation in Christ Jesus!

Breathe in deeply and as you exhale say I will be first for you, Jesus!

Listen closely and write down what you hear.

God may want to whisper a first for you right now.
