A Bloody Mess

Day3

Week 9

Hebrews 9

”But now the Anointed One has become the King-Priest of every wonderful thing that has come. For he serves in a greater, more perfect heavenly tabernacle not made by men, that is to say, not a part of this creation. And he has entered once and forever into the Holiest Sanctuary of All, not with the blood of animal sacrifices, but the sacred blood of his own sacrifice. And he alone has made our salvation secure forever! Under the old covenant the blood of bulls, goats, and the ashes of a heifer were sprinkled on those who were defiled and effectively cleansed them outwardly from their ceremonial impurities. Yet how much more will the sacred blood of the Messiah thoroughly cleanse our consciences! For by the power of the eternal Spirit he has offered himself to God as the perfect Sacrifice that now frees us from our dead works to worship and serve the living God.“

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9‬:‭11‬-‭14‬ ‭TPT‬‬

A Bloody Mess

Did you ever really think about what it was like to be an Israelite in Bible days?

They didn't have just “10” commandments to adhere to and follow. Those were just the beginning of laws to obey.

There were over 600 rules and regulations to keep track of and rituals to perform.

Even if you were a reasonably obedient person you still had to offer blood sacrifices to try and be worthy of a relationship with God, over and over and over again!

I was raised on a farm and was a farm wife during my early years of marriage.

We raised animals and butchered our own meat. So, I am familiar with the shear yukiness (if that's a word) of the process of killing and cutting up animals. Quite simply, it's a bloody mess.

Would you have wanted to be a Levite and do that all day, everyday from the age of 20 till you were 50?

Thirty years of blood, guts and gore still knowing it wasn't good enough?

Anything originating from this earth was not pure. It was tainted by a sin nature.

But, then came Jesus!

His blood was pure from heaven. It was the only blood that could wash away our sin and restore a relationship with our Creator, our Heavenly Father.

Does it make you happy knowing that God's love for us has made our lives so much simpler?

Do you enjoy the ease of talking to God without a lot of rituals and restrictions?

Does it bring you peace of mind knowing that God hears us and answers our prayers?

Action step

Tell Him, right now, wherever you are.

Throughout your day let Him know you love Him and appreciate His love for you.
