Day4
Mark 15:40-41
“Watching from a distance, away from the crowds, were many of the women who had followed Jesus from Galilee and had cared for him. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of Jacob the younger and Joseph, and Salome. Many other women who had followed him to Jerusalem were there too.”
Mark 15:40-41 TPT
Many
Mark’s account of the crucifixion tells us that there were many women other than the few mentioned by name present at the cross. Mark also mentions that these many other women had came with Jesus to Jerusalem.
One can only assume then that all of those who accompanied Jesus to Jerusalem were also at the Passover celebration or the “last supper “ as we call it.
Mark 14:15 describes a large upper room. There may have been many tables of Jesus follower’s and of course His closest friends known as the twelve would’ve been at the head table with Him.
We really don’t know for sure, but these clues found when you read all the accounts together do give us a different picture than the traditional last supper painting.
For me this is encouraging. There is room at the table for more than a few. Jesus is a personal Savior, yes, but He is available for many to follow Him. All who are willing may pick up their cross and follow Him.
It is personal!
Many are called, but few are chosen.
Matthew 22:14
You can be one of the chosen simply by surrendering your will to Jesus and asking Him to forgive you from your sins.
Many or few, it is up to you.
