What Are You Saying?

Question:

How do I speak to my child as if he/she is destined for success?

Answer:

That is an excellent question and I am so glad that you asked.

I remember Jesus telling Sedwik, "Words are seeds." Jesus also taught about the sower and the seed. Matthew 13:18-23, Mark 4:13-20. If you can think of your words as seeds that you are sowing into your child you will want to remember that each seed reproduces after its own kind. Genesis 1:25.

When you want to eat figs, do you plant a pear tree? I would expect not. I am sure you want to plant encouragement into your child or you wouldn't have asked such a great question.

First and foremost, it is important that you speak to your child in a language that speaks love. Every child or person for that matter, receives love differently. Listen to your child and pay attention to how they show you love. This is a huge clue as to how they receive it. For example, if you love figs and you give your child figs to show them love, but they don't like figs, do you think that they will feel loved?

I have found that speaking positive scriptures to them is very helpful. Wait.. don't stop listening. I didn't say preach at them. What I mean is this; "Sedwik, did you know that you are beautifully and wonderfully made? You were created with a special purpose?"Psalm 139:14, Jeremiah 29:11 or "Your hair is amazing, did you know that God knows exactly how many hairs are on your head? Let's count them, lol."Luke 12:6-7

There are numerous opportunities to speak scripture into your children. Pray and ask God to show you and I'm told that you can ask google about scriptures on any topic and they will show up or something like that. I hope this was helpful. Hee Haw.
